Certification Programs

ACI offers over 30 certification programs designed to form a minimum qualification for personnel employed within the concrete construction industry. Certification examinations and optional training courses are conducted through an international network of over 135 sponsoring groups. Since 1983, ACI has administered exams to over 900,000 individuals, with over 120,000 certifications currently maintained by ACI.

Tilt-Up Supervisor/Technician

Definition:
Tilt-Up Supervisor is a person who has demonstrated proficiency in and an understanding of overall on-site administrative and technical management for producing tilt-up projects by passing the ACI written examination and meeting work experience requirements.

Tilt-Up Technician is a person who has an understanding of overall on-site administrative and technical management for producing tilt-up projects by passing the ACI written examination, but who lacks sufficient work experience to qualify as a tilt-up supervisor.

Scope and Knowledge:

This program requires demonstration of the knowledge covered on the Job Task Analysis (JTA):

JTA for ACI Certification of Tilt-Up Supervisor and Technician

The JTA is a detailed list of specific points of knowledge that may be included in the examination for this ACI Certification program. ACI urges candidates to use the JTA to prepare for the certification exam.

Certification Requirements:

For Tilt-Up Supervisor

ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who obtain a passing grade on the written examination, possess five years (7500 hours) of verifiable construction experience, three years (4500 hours) of which must be experience in tilt-up construction. Of those 4500 hours of tilt-up work experience, 2000 hours must be tilt-up supervisory experience or training with a minimum of 75% of the required hours obtained as field experience. Training is defined as a Tilt-up Concrete Association (TCA) or ACI-sponsored seminar or class.

Certification is valid for a period of five years from the date of successfully completing all requirements.


For Tilt-Up Technician

ACI will grant certification to those applicants who pass the written examination but do not possess the necessary work experience to be granted full Tilt-Up Supervisor certification.

Certification is valid for a period of five years from the date of successfully completing all requirements.


For Recertification

Recertification for both Tilt-Up Supervisor and Technician requires successful completion of either:
A) The then-current written examination, OR
B) Submission and verification of records reflecting a minimum of 10 hours of approved continuing education during the previous five-year period, with the recertification payment form. Courses shall be from listings pre-approved by the ACI C650 Committee and the Tilt-Up Concrete Association from offerings at conventions, exhibitions, or similar venues.

NOTE: Individuals who have allowed their certification to lapse by two years or more can only re-certify by successfully completing the current written exam.
