Scholarships

ACI NETX has multiple scholarship opportunities for students in the Chapter's area.  Each opportunity is outlined below.  Scholarships are funded from membership dues, certification programs, and other fund raising activities.  Some programs are paid from current Chapter funds and some are in the form of perpetual endowments.
SMU Lyle Scholars Fund  - Shilstone Memorial Scholarship
The Northeast Texas Chapter of American Concrete Institute International (ACI NETX) has created a scholarship in memory of James “Jim” Maxwell Shilstone, Sr., longtime ACI NETX member and concrete industry icon. Mr. Shilstone spent 60 years of his life dedicated to improving the durability and attractiveness of concrete mixtures.. (More information)


Northeast Texas Chapter of ACI Student Scholarships
Students in any course of study related to the concrete industry (construction management or engineering, civil or structural engineering, construction materials science, or similar) may apply directly to the chapter.  Application and deadline information will be posted here when the scholarship is open. University of Texas - Arlington
ACI NETX has endowed a permanent scholarship fund at the University of Texas at Arlington.  This scholarship is open to junior and senior undergraduates in the civil engineering program.  Application will be through UTA Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. (Information on the UTA website)


Southern Methodist University
ACI NETX provides one annual scholarship to a student in an industry-related program at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.  The amount of this scholarship varies, but is at least $2000 per year.  Application for this scholarship is through the SMU Office of Admissions.
